NURSERY
POLICIES
Rhymes
Nursery has an operational plan as required by OFSTED.
Within this document we hold our policies and procedures by which
the nursery is run. This is available for all parents to
view if they wish. Below are a few extracts from some of
our policies.
Once you have decided to place your child
within our care, we request that the following guidelines are followed
before your child is left: Completion of 2 Medical Cards, Contract,
Direct Debit Form and Calpol letter if required.
Ensure that you have left milk and nappies
where applicable and a change of clothes along with any other items
needed by your child whilst he/she is with us. Any items brought
into Nursery should be clearly labelled with nametags or indelible
pen. We cannot be held responsible for mislaid items.
We have a positive equal opportunities policy
which totally opposes any discrimination on the grounds of race,
ethnic origin, ability, sex or religion. We understand that children,
staff and parents are entitled to the same basic rights and this
is promoted throughout the Nursery.
Rhymes
Nursery reserves the right to exclude any child from Nursery
should they be considered not well enough to attend or if they are
suffering from a contagious illness. Whilst we have a realistic
attitude towards the needs of parents we do request that parents
refrain from bringing their children to Nursery when they are not
well enough to attend.
Should a child require medical treatment whilst
on the premises we have a number of staff who are qualified first-aiders
and we reserve the right to administer first aid or, alternatively,
attend the local hospital for further advice or treatment.
Due to regulations, if your child requires medication
we cannot administer any medicines unless prescribed by a doctor
and parents MUST fill in a medicine consent form.
Behaviour will be managed by giving praise
and encouragement to all children, taking into account their age
and stage of development. Whilst we appreciate that what constitutes
acceptable behaviour may differ from one parent/carer to another,
as a Nursery we have established clear boundaries and should a child
continually exceed these guidelines we will agree a suitable plan
of action after discussion with yourself.
We believe that every child should be given
the opportunity to reach his/her full potential. Should a child
experience difficulties in learning or having emotional, physical
or behavioural problems, it is only through partnership with parents/carers
that we can achieve the best for your child. We will also encourage
any child who shows a particlar talent and provide an environment
which promotes develoment.
We aim to provide and maintain a safe, healthy
environment for children, staff and parents. All our staff have
a clear understanding of their obligation to maintain this policy
and are informed accordingly of relevant issues and practice in
the Nursery through training days and our on-site Health and Safety
Officer.
We aim to provide the children with a balanced
and varied diet, taking into account religion and ethnic origin
whereby specific requirements are outlined by parents.
The children will be offered a wide variety
of foods in a relaxed, social environment and encouraged to try
different foods as well as their favourites.
